Edge #26 - Let's slow it down

What I’m watching

Resource of the Week

Hometrack reports are something I’ve recommended before, but deserves another reminder. It’s one of the few publications I read every month without fail. It’s free, the reports are packed full of useful insights. If you have an interest in the property market, it’s a no-brainer.

Thoughts

I’ve recently got back into journaling. I’ve done it on and off throughout my life but have decided to make a habit of it recently. I’m not sure what the benefits are but figured it’s a somewhat more productive pastime than raging over strangers on the internet playing games.

Undoubtedly the pace of life nowadays is so much faster than even just a generation ago, it’s easy to get lost and let the days merge together. It’s nice to sit down and think intentionally and take down a snapshot of what you’re thinking, plans and even just to enjoy and capture the small moments that I would’ve completely missed otherwise.

Personally, I also think it’s a great way to also go back through my book highlights to write them out and remember what I read.

In other news, I finally finished filming all the lessons to my TikTok Skillshare class! Even as someone who’s stuck to a social media schedule of 4 videos a week without fail, I’m still surprised at the amount of work it takes to put a Skillshare class together. I had allocated 6 weeks to it tops. Looking back over my project timeline, I started in July and when all is said and done it would’ve taken a minimum of 3 months.

But I do think it’s worth it, it’s what I would’ve wanted when starting out. If anything I feel like the potential social media offers for starting a business is immense and we’ll see it get taken more seriously in the next 5-10 years.

It's easy to dismiss it as a waste of time, but it's just a tool and is up to you how to make use of it. Imagine showing and explaining it to someone 30 years ago. That it has the potential for you to reach, connect, educate, speak with literally millions of people, and all you need is your phone.

At the end of the day, it’s all about where the attention is and the attention is very much on short-form content and it's growing.

Stay tuned! You guys will be the first to know once it goes live and it’ll be free for all subscribers.

Have a good week!
